The same happened to me... 10 years ago. Switched from Linux to Mac.

I simply wanted to use my computer to get the work done, not to play with the system, to make it work.

Tried some distros in time between, but no luck.

Many see the wide range of distributions, desktop environments, package managers, ... as an advantage. For me personally, this is the biggest disadvantage and I think it is the reason for low "ordinary human" usage of Linux.
